Heat Exchangers: Shell & Tube

Heat exchangers are mechanical devices, manufactured and designed for the expert transfer of heat from one fluid substance to another through a solid surface. One should keep in mind that the fluids themselves never mix with each other, but instead are separated by a solid surface. The size of the heat exchangers are driven by the required temperature change suspected, the speed at which this change is should be accomplished, as well as the acceptable pressure drop. This process has found wide range of applications within the engineering world, but can also be found in everyday household appliances such as air conditioning and refrigeration. The most common heat exchanging device is ones car radiator. More examples include condensers, intercoolers, boilers, and pre-heaters.
